A framework for teaching mindfulness and breathwork to young people.
Help a child calm down and you soothe one storm; teach them how their nervous system works and how to regulate it, and you give them the tools to sail every storm they meet.
The Regulated Learner is a practical, science-backed framework that helps educators, youth workers, and facilitators bring mindfulness and breathwork to children in ways that are playful, trauma-aware, and deeply effective.
Whether you’re in a classroom, community group, or home, you’ll learn how to teach mindfulness that actually works, helping kids (and you) find balance, regulate emotions, and thrive with compassion.
You know the power of mindfulness and breathwork: how they can shift energy, ease anxiety, and restore balance. But when it comes to teaching these practices to children, it’s not always easy to know where to begin.
You might find yourself wondering:
How do I make mindfulness engaging and fun for kids?
How do I translate complex ideas into simple, age-appropriate language?
How can I hold space for children’s emotions in a safe, empowering way?
You’re not alone. Many big-hearted educators, facilitators, and parents share this desire; to guide children toward emotional awareness and calm, but without the rigid structure or years of specialised training.
That’s exactly why this program was created.
A Framework for Teaching Mindfulness and Breathwork to Young People.
This self-paced, evidence-informed program helps educators, parents, youth leaders, and facilitators bring mindfulness, breathwork, and emotional regulation into children’s lives in authentic, practical, and sustainable ways.
You don’t need to start as a child-expert. You simply need a willingness to learn, to model calm, and to meet children where they are.
Through a trauma-aware, heart-led approach, you’ll learn not just what to teach, but how to teach it. Blending neuroscience, creativity, and compassionate communication to nurture connection, focus, and emotional resilience.
At the heart of this program is The Evolve Framework; a flexible, trauma-aware structure that balances flexibility and routine. It gives you a safe, engaging foundation to help children connect with themselves and others while having fun.
Build trust, belonging, and agreed expectations so young people feel safe and connected.
Meet young people where they’re at with movement, breathwork, and calming activities.
Supporting young people to move into deep relaxation and regeneration.
Make the most of their regulated state. This is your opportunity to pass on your wisdom.
Through rituals and routine, safely close the space.
Testimonials
With 20 years’ experience in education, I found The Regulated Learner both practical and enlightening. It strengthened my understanding of nervous system states and how to recognise them in young people, while offering clear, useful strategies to support regulation and readiness to learn. The theory on brain and nervous system development connected well with practices I already use, making the course highly relevant and impactful.
I recently completed Larissa’s ”The Regulated Learner” course as a Grade 11/12 maths and science teacher, and it was excellent. Larissa is highly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly an expert in her field. The content was practical, easy to apply, and delivered in a way that made learning it enjoyable. I now feel far more confident and better equipped to support the students I work with. Highly recommended for anyone who works with young people. – Adrian Lambert, Year 11/12 Maths and Science Teacher.

You’ll explore how the nervous system responds to stress, and how mindful movement and breath can help kids return to their Window of Tolerance; that calm, focused space where learning and connection thrive.

After years of working with children, parents, and educators, I kept hearing the same question: “How do I teach mindfulness to kids in a way that actually works?”
People were craving something real, not performative, not theoretical, but something adaptable, playful, and rooted in human connection.
So, I created The Regulated Learner to offer a flexible framework anyone can use. Whether you’re teaching in classrooms, community programs, therapy settings, or homes. Because when more adults know how to model emotional regulation and mindfulness, more children grow up understanding their own inner sensations.
After more than a decade supporting elite soldiers as a military Psychological Examiner, I saw firsthand how breathwork could help people regulate stress in high-pressure moments.
Bringing those principles into classrooms and communities, I realised that the same tools that build resilience in adults, can transform emotional wellbeing in children, when taught with creativity and compassion.
And I’m excited that you want to be a part of this ripple effect!
