A framework for teaching mindfulness and breathwork to young people.

The Regulated Learner

Teach Emotional Regulation with Confidence, Calm and Playfulness.

Help a child calm down and you soothe one storm; teach them how their nervous system works and how to regulate it, and you give them the tools to sail every storm they meet.

The Regulated Learner is a practical, science-backed framework that helps educators, youth workers, and facilitators bring mindfulness and breathwork to children in ways that are playful, trauma-aware, and deeply effective.

Whether you’re in a classroom, community group, or home, you’ll learn how to teach mindfulness that actually works, helping kids (and you) find balance, regulate emotions, and thrive with compassion.

Create Calm, Connection, and Confidence in the Next Generation

You know the power of mindfulness and breathwork: how they can shift energy, ease anxiety, and restore balance. But when it comes to teaching these practices to children, it’s not always easy to know where to begin.

You might find yourself wondering:

How do I make mindfulness engaging and fun for kids?

How do I translate complex ideas into simple, age-appropriate language?

How can I hold space for children’s emotions in a safe, empowering way?

You’re not alone. Many big-hearted educators, facilitators, and parents share this desire; to guide children toward emotional awareness and calm, but without the rigid structure or years of specialised training.

That’s exactly why this program was created.

A Framework for Teaching Mindfulness and Breathwork to Young People.

This self-paced, evidence-informed program helps educators, parents, youth leaders, and facilitators bring mindfulness, breathwork, and emotional regulation into children’s lives in authentic, practical, and sustainable ways.

Practical, Easy to Apply and Enjoyable.

I recently completed Larissa’s”The Regulated Learner” course as a Grade 11/12 maths and science teacher, and it was excellent. Larissa is highly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly an expert in her field. The content was practical, easy to apply, and delivered in a way that made learning it enjoyable. I now feel far more confident and better equipped to support the students I work with. Highly recommended for anyone who works with young people. – Adrian Lambert, Year 11/12 Maths and Science Teacher.

Clear, Useful Strategies to Support Regulation

With 20 years’ experience in education, I found The Regulated Learner both practical and enlightening. It strengthened my understanding of nervous system states and how to recognise them in young people, while offering clear, useful strategies to support regulation and readiness to learn. The theory on brain and nervous system development connected well with practices I already use, making the course highly relevant and impactful.

The Science Behind the Framework

This program draws on the latest insights from neuroscience and Polyvagal Theory to help you understand why mindfulness and breathwork support children’s wellbeing.

You’ll explore how the nervous system responds to stress, and how mindful movement and breath can help kids return to their Window of Tolerance; that calm, focused space where learning and connection thrive.

Why This Program Was Created

After years of working with children, parents, and educators, I kept hearing the same question: “How do I teach mindfulness to kids in a way that actually works?”

People were craving something real, not performative, not theoretical, but something adaptable, playful, and rooted in human connection.

So, I created The Regulated Learner to offer a flexible framework anyone can use. Whether you’re teaching in classrooms, community programs, therapy settings, or homes. Because when more adults know how to model emotional regulation and mindfulness, more children grow up understanding their own inner sensations.

After more than a decade supporting elite soldiers as a military Psychological Examiner, I saw firsthand how breathwork could help people regulate stress in high-pressure moments.

Bringing those principles into classrooms and communities, I realised that the same tools that build resilience in adults, can transform emotional wellbeing in children, when taught with creativity and compassion.

And I’m excited that you want to be a part of this ripple effect!

What Makes This Program Different

Unlike many programs that focus solely on what to teach, The Regulated Learner helps you embody the practices yourself, so you can model calm, connection, and authentic leadership. It blends play-based learning, emotional safety, and evidence-based tools for a truly whole-person approach.

This course helps you reconnect with your own inner child, so you can teach with authenticity, empathy, and playfulness. By understanding your own emotions and regulation, you’ll become a more present, grounded guide for the children you support.

You will also walk away with all the tools you will need. Whether you want to facilitate the work yourself or use provided scripts and/or recordings.
